There is this Australian-Belgian Singer-songwriter (that's a mouth ful) who is starting to break through in the music scene. More the poppy music scene though, which i normally don't like, but his music is beautiful!
His real name is Wouter de Backer. Gotye is a name his mother gave him when he was little.
The song i wanted to show you, called Somebody That I Used To Know featuring Kimbra, is a big hit in The Netherlands. It's just beautiful.
Again another post about Nirvana. I can't help it, they're my favourite band and they always will be. Today was the Nevermind documentary on television and immediately after that a concert of Nirvana in Paradiso. I have watched them both and got reminden again why i love Nirvana so much. They're brilliant, i would give up everything to see them live.
Two songs have been stuck in my head for the past weeks, so I thought it would be fun to share them with you.
Caution! Can be dangerous for you/family/friends when the songs get stuck in your head too. (you'll be the one who will be singing them all the time and they'll be the ones who have to deal with you singing ;p)
Wolf Gang - Lions in Cages
Btw, i have also seen them live (on lowlands) which was cute :)
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Brendan's Death Song
One of my favourite songs of their new album, I'm With You.
Two weeks ago, I have been to a free festival in Tiel. Appelpop. It's small festival, completely loaded with people. It's so crowded! But anyway, i had a great time with my friends. The line-up is usually not that great, most of the time 2/3 great bands, but the atmosphere is good :)
I wanted to make this post to show you two of my own videos (:D) and to promote the bands, because they really deserve to be promoted.
The first one is De Staat.
De Staat - Ah I See
This is one of the most original bands in the Netherlands. They use a big machine (which you see at the middle of the stage) in a song. They have a unique sounds and a unique performance. From the clothes to the instruments used (in this video they use a steering wheel as an instrument), De Staat is different. I love it!
DeWolff - Seashell Woman
DeWolff is one of my favourite bands at the moment. I have seen them on Lowlands, Appelpop and i am going to see them again on october 8th. Three young boys, two brothers and a friend, who make music like they've been in this business for many years. They don't even have a bass player (even though the keyboard player plays the bass sometimes) and still manage to have a warm and 'full' sound. They have catchy rock 'n roll songs which make the whole crowd go crazy. If DeWolff goes on like this, we'll hear a lot more from them!
Like I promised, a video of one of the songs of the Kasabian album! I had a really hard time chosing which one to put in this post, so i grabbed my ipod, pressed shuffle and the first one that came up was re-wired (which i forgot to recommend btw).
Enjoy!
I think i am going to post all the songs of the album, because i like all of them except one. So if you want to hear more, stay tuned!
Kasabian did it again! Last friday they realeased their 4th album already, called Velociraptor! After kasabian, empire and west ryder pauper lunatic asylum another masterpiece. They re-invented theirselves again, without losing their unique kasabian-sound.
This album has got catchy lyrics, electronical beats yet still a rock 'n roll attitude. I just love it!
I am on the iPad now, so i will post a video of one of the songs later. In the meantime, you guys can also look the songs up for yourselves ;) i recommend i hear voices, let's roll just like we used to, days are forgotten, switchblade smiles, man of simple pleasures and la fee verte. Enjoy!
